Match Prelim: Gosport Borough vs Sutton United. Tuesday 17th February 2015
Gosport Borough take on Sutton United on Tuesday night as they try and close the gap on the play-off places. The Boro’ go into the game on the back of an impressive 3-1 win over Bath City, after going a goal down. Goals from Bennett and Wooden made sure Boro’ took all the points. Gosport are still four points a drift of that precious play-off place with only two wins from their last five games, nothing but a win will do for Alex Pike’s men.
Sutton are making the short trip down the A3 hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2-1 loss to Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday. Sutton currently sit 15th in the league, with midfielder Glen Southam suspended and Jamie White likely to miss the game after being taken of with a hamstring injury on Saturday.
The Boro’ are likely to be without Brett Poate after he picked up an injury at Bath City. However they will have Justin Bennet leading the line and looking for his 30th goal of the season, the number 9 is in fantastic form for Boro’ and if anyone can grab this game by the scruff of the neck, its him. Last years fixture ended 2-2 in a game that was played in monsoon like weather conditions, with Boro’ giving away a two-goal lead.
The Gosport boys will be hoping for better weather and to take all three points this time round as they look to really hit the ground running with only 12 games remaining to secure a place in the play-offs. Boro’ haven’t lost at home since September, against Whitehawk and will be expecting business as usual on Tuesday night.
